Tournament Rules
A TEAM is defined as the total number of amateur anglers on any single boat. (Minimum of three (3) contestants per boat, maximum of four (4)). Individual fishermen may fish the tournament, but cannot enter into the Challenge Board competition nor weigh-in their catch in any of the team categories. Individual fishermen can only participate in the All-Around Fisherman, Largest Trout, Largest Redfish and Largest Flounder categories. Fish may be taken by rod and reel only, and must be caught during tournament fishing hours. All fish entered become the property of the tournament.
Please turn in all fish so everyone can eat! All fish must conform to Texas Parks & Wildlife legal limits, and Redfish must be within the legal slot. Oversized tagged Redfish will not be eligible. Any fish may be rejected by decision of the Head Weigh Master. Only amateur fishermen may enter the Tournament. An "amateur fisherman" is defined as an individual that does not receive any form of compensation, endorsement, or discounted equipment related to the sport of fishing.
Fishing boundaries: This is an inshore bay fishing tournament, therefore any jetty, surf or Gulf waters fishing is NOT allowed.
Tournament Hours: Boats may not start fishing until 6:30 am. Teams must be checked in no later than 2:00 pm. If the entire team has not checked in by 2:00 pm, the day's stringer is disqualified.
Tournament Stringer/Weigh-in: The tournament stringer will consist of 3 Redfish and 3 Speckled Trout. The method of measurement will be in accordance with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, which is from tip of nose to a squeezed tail. Lengths on Redfish will be from 20" to 28". No oversized tagged Redfish will be allowed. Team stringers may ONLY include ONE Trout 25" or larger. In the event of a tie in weight, the total length of the stringer will determine the winner.
Weigh-in: The weigh-in will be held at Camp Aranzazu and will begin at 1:00 pm and close at 2:00 pm. Any team not registered for weigh-in by 2:00 pm will be disqualified from the tournament. Once registered for weigh-in the team must remain in line for their individual weigh-in until complete. Note that each angler must weigh-in their own fish. In order to be eligible for any Team competition ALL team members must check-in at the weigh-in. Fish will be weighed and a score given to each angler and the team.
All fish submitted for the weigh-in become property of the tournament.
Largest Fish: Only one (1) trout, redfish and flounder from a single stringer can be entered in each category. Only one (1) prize per angler will be awarded. In case of a tie the angler's total score will determine the winner.
All-Around Fisherman: Each individual angler may enter one (1) Trout and one (1) Redfish. In the case of a tie, the largest single trout will determine the winner.
Any additional rulings are at the discretion of the Head Weigh Master.
